Most RAFAC activities are centrally funded through the RAF which helps to keep costs down.
The Squadron has a monthly subscription charge of £9.50, your first month is free. Some activities also require a small contribution - for example a week long annual camp might be £40, a small amount considering what is involved.
Cadets can join from 13, or 12 if they are currently in year 8 at school, however for some activities such as flying, cadets must be 13¼. For other activities like scholarships, cadets must be 19.
Adult Volunteers can join from age 20. We require all staff to have criminal records checks before working with young people, we will guide you through this and train and support you at every stage of your Adult Volunteer career.

Although the Air Cadets receives some funding from the RAF, we are not a recruiting organisation. While some cadets do choose to join the military, the training provided by the RAFAC is held in high regard by civilian employers too and there is no pressure on cadets to consider a Service career.
We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm till 9:30pm. There are also many activities we do at weekends and in the school holidays. There amount of time you want to commit is up to you. But the more you put in the more you get out.
Yes, all cadets will have the opportunity to fly at one of the Air Experience Flights provided by the Volunteer Gliding Squadrons located around the country. Additionally, cadets can apply for scholarships up to Private Pilots Licence level!
Earley Squadron has a committed group of Adult Volunteer staff who supervise all activities. Off-squadron are also supervised by Adult Volunteers. All staff have had criminal records checks to work with young people and are fully qualified in the activities they're involved in.
The Air Cadets is a military youth organisation affiliated to the Royal Air Force and therefore cadets wear the same uniform as regular RAF personnel.
Cadets wear blue uniform for classroom activities and green uniform for field exercises.
Earley Squadron will issue uniform as soon as possible. You will be asked to complete a sizing form to help with this. We require Cadets to purchase their own parade shoes and boots.
